Safran’s history, products, and recent missions characterise a global company intertwined in innovation in the aerospace and defence sectors.
They are a partner in the Ariane Group, but are also an international aviation, space, and defence technology group.
As part of the Ariane Group, Safran has over the last 40 years developed propulsion systems, including payload delivery, totalling up to 10,700 kilograms into GTO, orbiting at an altitude of 36,000 kilometres.
Ariane Group (a 50/50 joint company between Safran and Airbus) is the main contractor for Europe’s Ariane 5 and Ariane 6 launchers. They are responsible for design, production and marketing (via Arianespace). Ariane 5 is the most reliable satellite launcher in the world, it has a record of more than 80 successful launches.
Safran, a rocket engine supplier to a subsidised European space industry, pays a dividend of between 0.5% and 2%, depending on the swings of the markets. Good news: They pay a dividend. Not so exciting news: It could be more. Why? One would humbly expect that after 40 years in the business things could be financially optimised to reward shareholders. Or, if you want to make money in the space industry, become a trusted sub-contractor to one of the too big to fail contractors.
