Institute for Q-shu Pioneers of Space, Inc. is a listed Japanese Space Stock focussed on SAR satellites.
Mote: Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) refers to a technique for producing fine-resolution images from a resolution-limited radar system.
Products: iQPS has developed “QPS-SAR”, a world-class high-resolution small radar satellite.
Services: They offer a Near-Real-Time Data Provisioning Service.
History: iQPS was founded in 2005 by emeritus professors at Kyushu University.
Most the earth observation satellites currently use cameras to take images of specific locations on Earth’s surface.
Using current optical sensor technology, it is impossible to take pictures at night or during bad weather.
As three-quarters of the Earth’s surface is in night or experiencing bad weather, services provided by conventional satellites are far from óptimal.
The satellites from iQPS are capable of observing the Earth day and night, regardless of weather.
iQPS plans to build and launch a constellation of 24 satellites by 2027, and eventually a larger constellation of 36 satellites, to provide a ”Near-Real-Time Data Provisioning Service”.
This will be a observation of almost anywhere in the world at an average interval of 10 minutes.
